O’Shaughnessy Asset Management promotes three on investment management team
O’Shaughnessy Asset Management (OSAM) has promoted Scott Bartone, Patrick O’Shaughnessy and Ashvin Viswanathan to partner and portfolio manager.
In their new roles, Bartone, O’Shaughnessy and Viswanathan are responsible for investment strategy research, product development and client service.
With their appointments to equity partner, one-third of OSAM’s employees – and 84 per cent of the investment management team – are now equity partners.
“We have long recognized that offering an equity interest in our firm ensures that we attract and retain the best people, enabling us to provide extraordinary service and counsel to our valued clients,” says Jim O’Shaughnessy, chairman, CEO and chief investment officer, OSAM. “We are thrilled to extend equity partnership to Scott, Patrick and Ashvin, whose valuable contributions to the OSAM investment management process have helped build our firm and deliver tangible benefits to our clients.”
Bartone (pictured) manages client portfolios and reviews current holdings and market exposures, while generating and executing trades with various brokers. He also educates new and prospective clients on OSAM’s strategies and investment research. Before joining OSAM, Bartone was account maintenance specialist at Bear Stearns where he was responsible for providing operational support for broker staff and trade issue resolution between third-party money managers and Bear Stearns.
O’Shaughnessy is responsible for generating new research to enhance investment strategies through stock selection, portfolio construction or asset allocation. He is a contributing author to the fourth edition of What Works on Wall Street and the author of several market commentaries, including “The Same Old Bear”. He is also the author of the forthcoming Millennial Money: How Young Investors Can Build a Fortune.
Viswanathan is responsible for generating new research to enhance investment strategies through stock selection, portfolio construction and asset allocation. He reviews each of OSAM’s models and approves them for trading daily. Prior to joining OSAM, he was an investment research analyst at Zephyr Management where he assisted in managing both benchmark aware and absolute return oriented emerging market strategies using a proprietary quantitative discipline. Previously, he served on the global equity team as senior portfolio engineer at Guardian Capital in Toronto.
Bartone, O’Shaughnessy and Viswanathan were previously assistant portfolio managers at OSAM.
