Advisors Asset Management and ISI to launch new unit investment trust
Advisors Asset Management (AAM) has teamed up with International Strategy and Investment (ISI) to launch a new unit investment trust (UIT), the American Renaissance Portfolio, Series 2013-1.
The UIT seeks to achieve above-average total return primarily through capital appreciation.
ISI acts as the UIT's portfolio consultant, selecting stocks that have the potential to benefit from the firm's three "American Renaissance" economic growth drivers: resurgence and renewed competitiveness of US manufacturing, US energy independence resulting from growing production of low-cost energy, and favourable long-term labour costs and demographics.
"We are confident that our partnership with ISI will provide investors with a timely and cost-efficient opportunity to take advantage of promising trends in the US economy," says Richard Stewart (pictured), senior vice president of UITs at AAM. "This is the latest example of our commitment to teaming up with best-in-class managers to ensure investors receive access to high-quality, sophisticated investment strategies. We are strong believers in the thematic approach to investing and we are pleased with the initial level of interest."
ISI has a long track record of providing investment advice based on its macro and fundamental research.
AAM has previously partnered with research and investment firms, such as Navellier & Associates, Cutwater Asset Management, Bahl & Gaynor and HIMCO, The Hartford Financial Services Group's money management arm, to deliver UIT strategies to a broad investor audience. AAM's assets under supervision totalled approximately USD9.2bn as of 31 December, 2013.
"We are excited to be part of the AAM network and its exceptional distribution capabilities. ISI strives to be the Street's best investment research resource for money management performance. We are pleased to partner with AAM to bring some of our best ideas to the retail investment community. The American Renaissance UIT is ISI's first pure equity-oriented portfolio offered to the public and fits well into AAM's strong line-up of portfolios based on independent ideas," says Bernhard Koepp, senior managing director at ISI.
