Waverton appoints US sales director
Waverton Investment Management has appointed Andrew Vaughan-Payne as US sales director.
Based in London, Vaughan-Payne will work closely with the global portfolio management team to focus specifically on developing new opportunities for private clients, trusts, charities and specialist mandates in the US.
Vaughan-Payne has been brought in to lead Waverton’s business in the US, which has been identified as a specific target market for the investment management firm, and to support and build on the foundations already established there.
Hugh Grootenhuis, chief executive, says: “Andrew’s arrival builds on the success we are seeing in managing US clients’ money, both in the US and in the UK. We have looked after US clients for a number of years and are regularly approached by US based advisers, whose clients want to invest in global and European equity mandates.”
Vaughan-Payne says: “I have worked with the Waverton business (formerly JOHIM) for over a decade and thoroughly enjoy the culture and way they interact with clients. From my experience, I see a significant opportunity in the US for Waverton with their solid investment returns and intelligent approach. I am therefore very much looking forward to helping to grow this business.”
Vaughan-Payne joins Waverton from Lazard Capital Markets in London, where he was director of US equities and covered UK and European clients. He has also worked in institutional equity sales at companies such as Smith Barney and Morgan Stanley.
