John Wilson named CEO of Sprott Asset Management
John Wilson has been named chief executive officer of Sprott Asset Management (SAM), a subsidiary of Sprott Inc, with immediate effect.
He replaces Eric Sprott, who will continue to serve as chairman and chief investment officer of Sprott and senior portfolio manager at SAM.
"John Wilson is a proven industry executive with a strong track record as both a portfolio manager and chief investment officer. Since joining the company in 2012, he has quickly established himself as a leader in the business and now manages some of our largest and fastest growing funds," says Peter Grosskopf, chief executive officer of Sprott. "John and James Fox, president of Sprott Asset Management, will work closely together to lead Sprott Asset Management as we continue to grow and diversify our asset management platform."
Wilson joined Sprott Asset Management in January 2012 with over 25 years of investment and business experience. Previously, he was CIO at Cumberland Private Wealth Management. Prior to that, he founded DDX Capital Partners, an alternative investment management firm; was managing director and a top-rated technology analyst at RBC Capital Markets; and a director at UBS Canada.
