Brooks Macdonald International (BMI) has appointed Lindsay Bateman as senior business development manager based in the firm’s Jersey office.
Bateman will be responsible for targeting new business opportunities across the international professional adviser markets.
Bateman joins BMI with over 35 years’ experience in the financial services industry and knowledge of markets in Europe, the US and Southern Africa.
He joins BMI from Ermitage Group, where as executive director for business development he was responsible for developing new relationships with institutional and retail clients within the Channel Islands, UK and internationally. Bateman was previously managing director of private client services at Standard Bank Offshore Group.
John Davey, chief executive of BMI, says: “Lindsay’s recruitment demonstrates our continued commitment to growing the business in the Channel Islands and internationally and we are particularly excited by his excellent contacts throughout Africa. We are confident that Lindsay has the right skills and experience to help us as we continue to develop business opportunities in lucrative new territories.”
Bateman says: “BMI has a great reputation as a client-focused company which is well respected in the industry for its stability and sustained growth. I look forward to joining the growing business development team and contributing to the expansion of the company across Southern Africa and new international markets.
“As Southern Africa develops economically, international professional advisers are increasingly able to access offshore investments and are moving away from holding their clients’ assets in banks and lower-earning investments, in order to benefit from greater security and returns from their assets. BMI maintains an in-depth investment process which is well suited to the needs of international investors looking for offshore exposure to a full range of global assets, so I believe we are perfectly placed to grow our client offering across this region.”
