Blackfriars appointed as investment manager of BDT funds

Blackfriars Asset Management has been appointed by the board of the Establishment Investment Trust Plc as its new investment manager, replacing BDT Invest.

Blackfriars will also take over management of the Dublin based UCITS BDT Invest Asian Focus Fund and BDT Invest Oriental Focus Fund, subject to regulatory and shareholder approval.
On completion of this deal in July, BDT partners Henry Thornton, Simon Dobson and Stephen Simmons will join Blackfriars.
Total assets under management at Blackfriars are expected to be over USD500 million.
Blackfriars’ chief executive Tom Waring says: “I know Henry Thornton and the BDT team well and they will be an excellent fit with our business. At Blackfriars we have been busy building a specialist developing markets boutique, with a strong focus on delivering to our clients the investment performance and service that best meet their needs. This next stage of our development sees us broadening our product range to include Asian equity products and helps further strengthen our existing global emerging and frontier market capabilities with additional specialist Asian equity expertise. We look forward to Henry, Simon and Stephen joining Blackfriars.”
