Citi Private Bank makes appointments in Asia Pacific

Citi Private Bank has appointed Roger Bacon as head of investments for Asia Pacific and Adam Proctor as head of managed investments and advisory for Asia Pacific.

Bacon will lead the Asia Pacific investments business for the private bank, including asset allocation, product advice, and execution across capital markets and managed investments.

He succeeds So-Yon Sohn, who has moved to a new role in global markets and investor sales within Citi.

Bacon will report to Eduardo Martinez Campos, global head of investments for Citi Private Bank, and Bassam Salem, Asia Pacific chief executive officer of Citi Private Bank, and will continue to be based in Hong Kong.

Bacon was most recently the head of managed investments and advisory for Asia Pacific since 2010. In that role, he oversaw the build-out of all product-based, portfolio management and advisory solutions in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to Citi, he was the head of the hedge fund business with Union Bancaire Privée in London and has also held roles with the Rothschild Family Office, JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management, Jardine Fleming Investment Management and Fleming Investment Management in London, Hong Kong and Luxembourg.

Proctor will take over the role of head of managed investments and advisory for Asia Pacific, reporting to Bacon and David Bailin, global head of managed investments. He will relocate to Singapore in the coming months.

Most recently, Proctor served as the global market manager of the global client programme and a senior private banker in London. As the GMM of the global client programme, he led significant improvements in the performance and profile of the programme and almost tripled programme participation by both banker and clients in the past two years. Proctor joined Citi Private Bank in 2008 as a private banker and became the UK banker team leader for UHNW clients in 2012. Prior to Citi, he was with Barclays Private Bank in London and Bristol.

Salem says: “Roger and Adam are both experienced private bankers with strong track record of achieving excellence. They will bring significant value, experience and synergy to our Asia Pacific business and continue enhancing our capabilities and expertise to be the best provider of investments products and solutions for our clients.”

“These appointments are testimony to how we invest in and grow our talent within Citi to better serve our clients,” adds Campos. “Roger and Adam’s wealth of knowledge and expertise in investments and advisory will be invaluable as we continue to closely partner our clients to protect and manage their wealth and legacy.”
