Levy has over 30 years’ experience conducting economic and public policy research and advising major financial and government organisations in the US and globally, including 15 years as Chief Economist at Bank of America.

Since 1983, he has been a member of the Shadow Open Market Committee, a prestigious independent research organization that critiques Federal Reserve and global central bank monetary and banking policies.  Levy has testified regularly before US Congressional committees on economic, policy and financial issues.
“Over the past 30 years, Dr Levy has established himself as a leading authority in economics. His appointment as our Chief Economist for the US, Americas and Asia will further strengthen our growing presence in the US as we continue our expansion after opening offices in New York, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco in the last four years,” says Hendrik Riehmer (pictured), Managing Partner at Berenberg. The German bank offers a range of services in capital markets and asset management for institutional clients in the US. Its award winning research team covers nearly 600 European stocks. Berenberg is one of the oldest banks in the world and celebrates its 425th anniversary this year.
“This is a very exciting time for Berenberg in the US, and I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of the Bank's expansion across the region”, says Levy, who will be based in New York. “And I particularly look forward to working closely with my former colleague,  Holger Schmieding, Berenberg's Global Chief Economist.”
