Sarasin Asset Management hires US specialist
Sarasin Asset Management, the US-client subsidiary of Sarasin & Partners, has hired experienced investment professional Sean McCaffrey, to be based in the US.
McCaffrey – who has been appointed senior vice president, US distribution and consultant relations – is tasked with spearheading the growth of Sarasin’s US charities and institutional business.
Sarasin & Partners is a leading global thematic ESG asset manager – with GBP14.7 billion invested on behalf of charities, private clients and institutions. Sarasin Asset Management, which has been registered as a US investment adviser since 2003, manages more than USD510 million in US client assets. The group offers tailored solutions for a variety of US clients including endowments, not-for-profits, institutions, domestic private clients, family offices and UK expats.
Sarasin’s global thematic approach to investing, which has underpinned the group’s equity selection since 1996, aims to capitalise on long-term secular megatrends shaping the global economy – notably ageing, digitalisation, automation, evolving consumption and climate change. Responsible stewardship is integrated into the Sarasin investment process, which is applied through an active approach to corporate engagement and policy outreach.
McCaffrey has joined from CBIS, a New York-based socially responsible investment management group, where he developed key contacts across the institutional and consultant space. He has more than three decades of experience working in investment sales and client relations, for companies such as APS Asset Management and Endowment Capital Group.
Ruadhri Duncan, investment director, comments: “We have been working closely with clients in the US for more than 15 years and the addition of Sean demonstrates our long-term commitment to the region and our clients. His extensive experience working with US institutional, endowment and not-for-profit clients will be crucial to growing awareness of Sarasin products in this market.
“As the world grapples with climate change, the widespread adoption of ESG factors by investors has particularly driven demand for our Climate Active and Global Thematic strategies in the US. Sean’s in-depth understanding of socially responsible investing makes him a natural fit for promoting the Sarasin approach.”
