Close Brothers Asset Management launches two sustainable funds
Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM) is launching two new sustainable funds to strengthen its existing fund range, following demand from clients and intermediaries for funds with a focus on ESG and sustainable investment strategies.
The new sustainable funds will aim to generate consistent long-term returns by screening out unethical practices while focusing on investment opportunities with positive ESG and sustainability records. The funds are part of CBAM’s broader sustainable investment proposition, including a socially responsible investment (SRI) service and a Bespoke investment service that caters for high net worth clients’ ethical and sustainable concerns.
The two new funds are The Close Sustainable Balanced Portfolio Fund, managed by Head of Funds, Riitta Hujanen and Investment Manager, Richard Stroud, and the Close Sustainable Bond Portfolio Fund, previously the Close Bond Income Portfolio Fund, is managed by Investment Director, Andrew Metcalf and Investment Manager, Eran Hasson.
The first funds aims to provide capital growth with some income over the medium term, investing in shares, bonds, alternatives, ETFs, and third party funds, while the second aims to generate income while maintaining its capital value over the medium term. The fund will invest in bonds, third party funds, and other fixed income securities, with a new investment approach and fund prospectus.
Both funds will be actively managed and follow a robust three-stage process using detailed analysis and sophisticated modelling techniques, uncovering investment opportunities which avoid unethical practices, have good ESG ratings and sustainability records, and provide returns in line with the funds’ investment objectives.
Martin Andrew, Chief Executive of Close Brothers Asset Management, says: “Investors and clients are becoming more aware of how their money can affect the world around them and increasingly want to invest in ways that reflect their concern and respect for the natural environment, for human dignity and for responsible corporate behaviour. We are launching these new funds to meet this demand.”
The funds will be available on the Close Brothers Asset Management platform as well as other major platforms. More detail on the new funds can be found here.
