Trump Says: Can I Call the National Guard to Help ICE at Airports?

25 March 2026

The U.S. president, Donald Trump, said on Wednesday (the 25th) that he could call in the National Guard to help officers of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE, with airport security control across the country.

The Trump administration began positioning ICE at airports to support officers of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), who have been working unpaid for the last 40 days amid a partial government shutdown, which has been resulting in long security lines.

“Blame the Democrats for the mess at the airport. They want our country to go badly. They want our country to fail.”

“They broke the already signed bill because they want to take care of the criminals who enter our country illegally, instead of American citizens,” Trump added in a post on Truth Social.
