U.S. Vice President Warns Iran Not to Mess With Us as Talks Get Underway

10 April 2026

LOS ANGELES, Apr 10 (Reuters) – The U.S. vice president, JD Vance, said on Friday that he was eager to pursue positive negotiations with Iran as he headed to talks in Pakistan, with a warning to Tehran not to ‘play with us’.

‘We are looking forward to the negotiations. I think it will be positive,’ he told reporters before leaving Washington.

‘As the President of the United States said, if the Iranians are willing to negotiate in good faith, we will certainly be willing to extend an open hand,’ Vance said.

‘If they try to deceive us, they will find that the negotiating team is not as receptive.’
