Paulo Borrachinha marked his light-heavyweight debut with a victory and a moment that drew attention outside the octagon. This Saturday, in Miami, the Brazilian defeated Azamat Murzakanov by technical knockout in the third round, at UFC 327, and celebrated with a dance in homage to Donald Trump, who was closely following the event and made a point to applaud the fighter.

It’s worth noting that the UFC White House card, scheduled for June 14, continues to take shape behind the scenes and already features heavyweight names. Among them, Alex Poatan, slated to challenge for the interim heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane, in addition to the Brazilians Diego Lopes and Maurício Ruffy. The main event will be the unification of the lightweight belt, between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje.
Inside the octagon, Borrachinha built a solid performance, controlling the pace and imposing his game until the finish in the third round.
With the result, the Brazilian notches his second consecutive win, both over Russians, and reinforces the good moment in his career. Speaking still in the cage, he highlighted the willingness to compete in different divisions and reinforced the goal of headlining exciting fights.
“It wasn’t easy, but my mindset is to be able to sacrifice myself to achieve my goals. In the light heavyweight division, I can prove my skills and perform well in the octagon. I want to put on great shows, no matter the weight class or against whom, I am here to light up the octagon,” he stated.

THE FIGHT
The bout began with Borrachinha more relaxed, throwing kicks and maintaining distance to thwart Murzakanov’s advances. The Russian tried to press, but had difficulty closing the distance. At a key moment in the first round, the Brazilian landed solid blows, took the fight to the ground, and controlled the action with ground and pound, earning the lead.
In the second round, the scene remained, but with more balance. Borrachinha continued betting on movement and kicks, while the opponent began to find more space in exchanges. The fatigue started to show, and the Russian had good moments, including a takedown at the end of the round, but could not seal the result.

The finish came in the third round. Right at the start, Borrachinha connected a high kick that made Murzakanov feel it. More aggressive, the Brazilian began to close the distance, increased the volume of strikes and found the right moment to accelerate. After a head sequence, he left the rival unable to continue, forcing the referee to stop and confirming the knockout victory.
