Iran Celebrates Lebanon Ceasefire, Says Truce Is Part of Pakistan Agreement

17 April 2026

Iran welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon as part of the ceasefire agreement mediated by the United States. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the measure as part of a broader understanding with Washington to pause the war in the Middle East.

The spokesperson for the chancellery, Esmaeil Baghaei, stated that the ceasefire is linked to the previous two-week truce between Tehran and the United States, mediated by Pakistan.

“Iran welcomes with satisfaction the announcement of the ceasefire in Lebanon and noted that the interruption of the war in Lebanon was part of the ceasefire understanding between Iran and the United States, mediated by Pakistan,” Baghaei said in a post on X.
