US to Recover Uranium from Iran, Trump Tells Reuters

17 April 2026

WASHINGTON, Apr 17 (Reuters) – The President of the United States, Donald Trump, told Reuters on Friday that the United States would work with Iran to recover its enriched uranium and bring it back to the United States.

“We are going to do this together. We will go in with Iran, at a cautious pace, and descend and begin excavating with large machines… We will bring this back to the United States,” Trump said in a telephone interview.

He referred to the ‘nuclear dust’ and added that it would be recovered ‘very soon’.

Trump’s mention of the ‘nuclear dust’ is a reference to what he believes remained after the United States and Israel bombarded Iran’s nuclear facilities in June of last year.
