Trump Says U.S. Representatives Are Having Very Positive Talks With Iran

4 May 2026

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated on Sunday, the 3rd, that American representatives are having very positive discussions with Iran, which could lead to “something very positive for everyone”.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump reported that “countries from all over the world”, almost all without any involvement in the conflict in the Middle East, asked the United States for help to release ships “that are held in the Strait of Hormuz”.

In response, the American president stated that “for the sake of Iran, the Middle East and the United States”, starting Monday, the 4th, in the morning in the Middle East time, the so-called “Freedom Project” will begin – which encompasses the best efforts to remove from the area the ships and crews “that have done nothing wrong”.

This, according to Trump, is a “humanitarian gesture”. He warned that any interference in the process of releasing the vessels “will unfortunately have to be dealt with by force”. In a lengthy post, the American president mentions that many of the ships in the Strait of Hormuz are dealing with food shortages, which makes it difficult to keep the crew healthy and hygienic.

According to Trump, the countries that contacted him said they will not return to the Strait of Hormuz until the area becomes safe for navigation.

Earlier this Sunday, the spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, said he is evaluating the United States’ response to its latest proposal – which covers 14 points – to end the war, but made clear that there are no nuclear negotiations at the moment.
