U.S. military forces carried out strikes on Monday (the 25th) in southern Iran against targets that included boats attempting to lay mines and missile-launch sites, in what was described as defensive actions.

The U.S. Central Command said in a statement that the strikes were designed “to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.”

“The U.S. Central Command continues to defend our forces while exercising restraint during the ongoing ceasefire,” said Navy Captain Tim Hawkins, spokesperson for Central Command.

Earlier, Iranian media had reported that explosions were heard in the city of Bandar Abbas, adding that the cause was unknown.

Mehr News Agency said that the situation in Bandar Abbas was under control and that there was no cause for concern after the explosions were heard to the east of the city. The agency said official sources had not yet commented.

Tasnim News Agency said three explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas, while Fars News Agency said similar sounds were heard near Sirik and Jask, near the strategic waterway.
