A spokesperson for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps called on Tuesday the President of the United States, Donald Trump, a “great liar,” accusing him of hiding the truth from Americans about Iran’s nuclear program and the effectiveness of the blockade Iran has imposed on energy supplies from the Gulf.
Among the reasons for declaring war on Iran, Trump cited the need to ensure that the country never becomes capable of manufacturing a nuclear weapon.
“The enemy (the United States) knows that Iran is not after nuclear weapons,” said Hossein Mohebbi. “Their problem with Iran is not the nuclear program, but the vastness of the country, which they want to destroy.”
He also challenged the US claims that Iran has lost much of its influence over the Strait of Hormuz, partly because the US Armed Forces have managed to protect some of the tankers carrying oil out of the Gulf.
“The fact that Americans, at great cost, substantial effort and high risk, manage to pass a small vessel through the Strait of Hormuz under cover of darkness to export, say, 100 or 200 barrels of oil, does not mean the Strait is open,” Mohebbi said.
According to data from Kpler, September recorded a recovery in oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz, which are expected to reach almost 10 million barrels per day, about half of the pre-war volume.
