Trump Uses Brazil’s Rapid Vote Count to Criticize the U.S. Electoral System

5 October 2026

The President of the United States highlighted on his social network that the counting of 125 million votes was completed on the same day, while in cities and American states the votes “take weeks to be rigged, I mean calculated.”

The U.S. President Donald Trump took advantage of the rapid vote count during the first round of the Brazilian elections on Sunday to criticize the United States system, where several states take up to a week before releasing the final result.

In the early hours of Monday (the 5th) – Brasília time – he posted on his Truth Social network: “125 million people voted today in the first round of the Brazilian Presidential Elections. The results came out shortly after the polls closed, ON THE SAME DAY!”, he wrote, in his style of highlighting words in uppercase.

“In Detroit, Philadelphia, California, and countless other cities and states in the U.S., the results, with much smaller numbers, usually take weeks to be rigged, I mean calculated. Voting in America is CORRUPT!!!”, he added.
