US Issues General License to Supply Russian Diesel to Global Market

9 October 2026

Sale, delivery, unloading and import of Russian diesel has authorization until April 7, 2027

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC, in English) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury said on Friday, the 9th, that it issued an authorization for transactions related to the sale, delivery, unloading and import of Russian diesel until April 7, 2027.

According to the Treasury, other sanctions remain in force and the current license does not authorize any debits to an account on the books of a U.S. financial institution at the Central Bank of Russia, the Russian National Wealth Fund, or the country’s Ministry of Finance.

In the afternoon of this Friday, the American president, Donald Trump, announced that he had reached an agreement with the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, for the immediate supply of more than 300 thousand tons of diesel to the U.S. and international markets.

According to the Republican, Moscow will also ship another 500 thousand tons in November and 1 million tons shortly thereafter amid concerns about global supply.
