The headquarters of Saudi Aramco, the Saudi state-owned oil company, in Dhahran, suffered extensive damage in an attack on Tuesday the 13th, with a fire spreading across several floors, three people with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.
However, operations continued normally, with employees working from home, according to two of these sources. A fourth source said that some functions had been shifted to global offices.
The Saudi Ministry of Energy said in a statement that the Tuesday night attack, occurring amid the intensification of fighting between Yemen’s Houthi rebels — allies of Iran — and the kingdom, caused a fire of limited scale.
Aramco did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
