EU Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia’s Infrastructure in Strong Terms

14 October 2026

The European Union on Monday, the 12th, rejected the attacks by Houthi rebels against civilian infrastructure, including airports, in Saudi Arabia.

An attack on Riyadh’s airport killed at least 13 people and injured more than 300. Initial investigations by regional authorities indicated that Iran-backed Houthis first fired several drones to pave the way for a combination of cruise and ballistic missiles that struck King Khalid International Airport.

“The EU condemns in the strongest terms the ongoing Houthi attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against civilian infrastructure, including airports. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased and with the many wounded,” said the President of the European Council, António Costa, in a post on X.

According to Costa, attacks on civilian infrastructure violate international law and “must stop immediately.” “The EU expresses its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and with the legitimate government of Yemen,” he added.
