The FBI carried out, on Wednesday, the 28th, a search warrant at an election office in Fulton County, Georgia, in an investigation related to the 2020 election — the year in which Donald Trump was defeated by Joe Biden and later claimed electoral fraud.
The information was confirmed to Reuters by a law enforcement official familiar with the case. Inquiries about the operation were referred to the county’s external relations department, which did not respond at the time.
The county, which leans Democratic, gave Biden a wide margin in the 2020 election, helping him win the state and the presidential race. At the time, Trump sought to overturn the state’s result by pressuring officials to “find” votes that would allow challenging the victory.

At the start of this month, Trump asked a state court for $6.2 million in attorney fees that, according to him, were spent to defend himself against criminal charges of election interference brought by the county prosecutor, Fani Willis.
The Charges
The complaints against Trump in Fulton County, Georgia, were intensified when he and several supporters were indicted by a grand jury at the Fulton County Superior Court in 2023, under the allegation that they engaged in an illegal scheme to try to overturn the 2020 election results.
The case did not go to trial, as the Fulton County District Attorney, Fani Willis, was disqualified from prosecuting it. An independent body called the Council of Prosecuting Attorneys also decided to drop the charge last year, saying that it would not be in the state’s interest to continue with the case.
