Houthi Leader Warns Against Alliance with Saudi Arabia in the Yemen War

22 September 2026

Mohamed al-Bukhaiti, a member of the Houthis’ political bureau, warned countries against allying with Saudi Arabia in the revived civil war in Yemen.

Al-Bukhaiti revealed that the U.S. had contacted the rebels after advances along Yemen’s western coast toward the Bab el-Mandeb Strait earlier this month. He stressed that the Houthis have no target against the United States or any other nation in the strait, except Saudi Arabia.

There are reports that Oman hosted a meeting between American representatives and the Houthis over the past weekend.

Al-Bukhaiti confirmed only indirect contacts with Washington authorities through Omani leadership.

According to him, the Houthis have the capacity to attack on multiple fronts if any nation becomes involved in confronting Yemen alongside Saudi Arabia.

He also noted that the Houthis’ offensives against Saudi Arabia will continue until Riyadh ends its decade-long blockade of the areas controlled by the rebels in Yemen.
