The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, spoke by phone on Tuesday, the 26th, with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during which he thanked the ongoing and constructive support and the efforts of the Qatari government on the path to peace.
“Iran is ready to reach a dignified agreement that ends the ongoing war and the tensions in the region,” Pezeshkian said, according to Tasnim News Agency.
In parallel, Iranian parliamentarian Mahmoud Nabavian described as “contrary to national interests” a possible agreement with the United States involving the Strait of Hormuz.
According to him, an understanding that envisages reopening the strait in exchange for suspending the siege, without guaranteeing full implementation of Iranian sovereignty and the collection of fees, without defining compensation, maintaining ambiguity about the revocation of sanctions and conditioning the peaceful use of nuclear energy to the satisfaction of the United States, would be detrimental to the country.
The measure would also represent “a violation of the conditions of our dear Leader, the Shaam Manifesto, and an absolute detriment,” Nabavian wrote on X.
