Iran’s Attacks on U.S. Bases in the Middle East Cost BRL 4.2 billion

22 March 2026

Attacks by Iran against United States military bases in the Middle East have already resulted in losses of about US$ 800 million (about R$ 4.2 billion). The analysis comes from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), based on data evaluated by the BBC.

The survey considers losses in air defense systems, communications and military infrastructure in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

Jordan hosted one of the costliest targets, THAAD, built to intercept long-range ballistic missiles, with an estimated cost of US$ 485 million (R$ 2.4 billion). Iran also caused US$ 310 million (R$ 1.5 billion) in losses due to damage to buildings, installations and other military structures in the region.

At least three bases have already been hit more than once, according to indications from satellite images: Ali Al-Salim, in Kuwait, Al-Udeid, in Qatar, and Prince Sultan, in Saudi Arabia.
