Italian Winery Robbery: 30,000 Bottles Stolen Valued at R$30 Million

10 October 2026

One of Italy’s largest family-owned wineries, Marchesi Antinori, suffered a burglary at its Tuscan warehouse last Saturday (the 3rd). The thieves took 30,000 bottles of wine, valued at about 5 million euros (R$ 28 million).

The company stated that at least seven masked men raided a shipment destined for overseas clients.

The criminals would have deactivated the alarms, disabled the cameras, and used the company’s forklifts to load two large trucks with the winery’s valuable Tuscan red wines Tignanello, Solaia, and Guado al Tasso.

To the Italian press, the winery’s chief executive Renzo Cotarella said this was the largest theft of its kind in the country.

Furthermore, Cotarella said he hopes to recover the bottles since two trucks cannot simply disappear on the roads of Tuscany. For him, the sale of these beverages would not go unnoticed either.
