Brad Arnold, the lead vocalist of the alternative rock band 3 Doors Down, died this Saturday, the 7th, at the age of 47, after a battle with kidney cancer. The death of the American artist was confirmed by the band on social media.
The vocalist who gave voice to hits such as Here Without You announced the cancer diagnosis last year and even canceled his participation in a tour of the group to devote himself to treatment.
In the 2025 post, the singer stated that the kidney cancer had become metastasis in the lung at stage 4 and that one of the songs he wrote with the band, called It’s Not My Time, had become his personal anthem in the fight against the disease.

According to the group, Arnold died at home, while sleeping, beside his wife Jennifer and other family members.
“As a founding member, lead vocalist and original drummer of the band 3 Doors Down, Brad helped redefine mainstream rock, combining the accessibility of post-grunge with emotionally direct compositions and lyrical themes that resonated with ordinary listeners. Brad’s compositions became a cultural reference for a generation, producing some of the biggest hits of the 2000s. His music resonated far beyond the stage, creating moments of connection, joy, faith and shared experiences that will remain long after the stages on which he performed,” the band posted on its Instagram account.
Arnold was one of the founders of the band 3 Doors Down, along with Matt Roberts and Todd Harrell in 1996, and gained prominence after the release of the album The Better Life, in 2000. His portfolio includes hits such as Kryptonite and Here Without You, which found success in Brazil after becoming the soundtrack for the telenovela Malhação, on Rede Globo, in 2004.
