At least two federal agents involved in the Saturday deadly shooting of a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis were placed on administrative leave, two U.S. outlets reported on Wednesday.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said that the two immigration officers who discharged their weapons during the incident with Alex Pretti were put on leave as part of standard procedures, Fox News reported.

MS NOW had previously said that the agents involved in the shooting with Pretti were placed on leave, citing an unnamed source.

Representatives from DHS could not be reached immediately to confirm the reports.

On Saturday, immigration agents fired several shots at Pretti, an intensive-care nurse who worked at a veterans hospital. His death was the second fatal encounter between ICE officers and American citizens in Minnesota this month, sparking a national outcry.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it is reviewing the shooting.
