Former President and First Lady, Michelle Obama, treated the situation as “tragic” and an affront to “American values”

The former U.S. president and the former first lady, Barack and Michelle Obama, condemned the death of yet another American citizen by federal agents of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, stating that the situation was “tragic” and an affront to the “American values”.

“Americans expect federal agents to fulfill their duties in a legal and responsible manner, and to work with, and not against, state and local authorities to ensure public safety. This is not what we are seeing in Minnesota. In fact, it is the opposite,” warned the Obamas in a statement.

The two also stated that the Trump administration “appears eager to escalate the situation,” noting that the official explanations for the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good “apparently are directly contradicted by video evidence”.
