The Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) said it had received information from the United States, through established cooperation channels, about preparations for a terrorist attack in Moscow and that it was taking appropriate measures.
The U.S. Embassy in Moscow separately said that it was “aware of a credible threat of an event with a large number of casualties” this Saturday, at the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve in Moscow, and that the U.S. government was coordinating actions with the Russian authorities.
The museum, a complex that includes a palace and a park south of Moscow, was temporarily closed and access to the park was restricted, according to the RIA news agency, citing Russian security authorities.
In March 2024, the U.S. embassy warned that extremists had imminent plans for an attack in Moscow. A few days later, armed men attacked the Crocus City Hall concert venue, on the outskirts of Moscow, killing more than 140 people.
