KIEV, Sep 20 (Reuters) – The number of dead in a Russian attack that occurred overnight in the Kiev region rose to four, including three children, regional authorities in Kiev said on Sunday.

In Kyiv itself, Russian drone attacks continued throughout the day, and Mayor Vitali Klitschko said there was one injured. Drone fragments fell in several districts of the capital.

Outside the capital, a mother and her two 3-year-old children died in the Kiev region when a Russian drone attack hit a private residence, the emergency service said.

Russian authorities did not issue any statement in response to Kyiv’s account of the attack.

The governor of the Kyiv region, Tymur Tkachenko, said that a girl died in hospital after a separate drone attack in another district.

Tkachenko said the region had endured more than a day of hostile attacks, with 31 locations damaged in five districts.

The Fastiv district, in the southwest, suffered the greatest damage, with 24 locations hit, including homes, industrial and public-service buildings, the facilities of an agricultural company, and vehicles, he added.

Russia has continued to attack the capital Kyiv and the surrounding region with drones in recent weeks.

In Kramatorsk, local authorities said one person died in one of several rounds of bombardments. Kramatorsk is one of the “fortress cities” in Donetsk region, repeatedly targeted by Russia in its slow advance across the region with its forces.

In Moldova, on the western border of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as a drone incursion overnight to the north of the capital, Chisinau. Moldova’s pro-Western government condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the numerous cases of drones, identified as Russian, that have invaded its airspace.
