Saudi Arabia Attacks Yemen’s Capital; Houthis Claim Strike on Saudi Aramco

4 October 2026

Satellite images released by the Houthis on their Telegram channel show a column of smoke rising from buildings that, according to the group, are Saudi Aramco facilities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Houthis described the action as a response to the resumption of bombardments by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemeni provinces, including the capital Sanaa, Saada, and Taiz.

So far, Saudi authorities and Aramco’s leadership have not issued any official statements nor confirmed the extent of the damage or the causes of the fire.

The incident occurs against a backdrop of intensified hostilities between the Riyadh-led coalition and Iran-aligned rebels in Yemen, a factor that raises uncertainty about the security of global oil supply and the stability of commodity maritime routes.

The conflict has directly affected maritime transport through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, creating bottlenecks in the flow of fuels and goods between Asia and Europe. In recent weeks, Saudi Arabia has reported the interception of multiple ballistic missiles aimed at industrial and urban areas such as Yanbu, Taif, and Khamis Mushait.
