Trade Republic continues to develop its investment offering with the launch of three major innovations: Best Price, Direct Price and a new Web interface designed for active investors. With these evolutions, the German bank no longer relies solely on low fees and an intuitive mobile app. It now aims to improve the quality of order execution, offer more transparency on the markets, and provide more comprehensive tools for retail investors.
Concretely, these new features aim to improve how orders are executed while proposing new analytical tools directly integrated into the Trade Republic platform.
Are these innovations marking a real turning point for Trade Republic? What advantages do they bring to retail investors and do they also present certain limitations? Café de la Bourse has analyzed in detail the new 2026 Trade Republic features to help you understand what they actually change for the broker’s clients.
What is the new technology platform for Trade Republic’s order execution?
When an investor places a buy or sell order on the stock market, the order is not executed instantly by the broker. The order is first transmitted to one or more stock exchanges, where it is confronted with buy and sell offers available at that moment. Depending on the market chosen, the level of liquidity or the spreads between the bid and ask prices, the price obtained may slightly vary.
It is precisely at this step that the new technology developed by Trade Republic comes into play. Its objective is to improve the execution conditions of orders in order to offer retail investors more transparency and, in some cases, a better execution price.
To achieve this, Trade Republic introduces two complementary features:
- Best Price, which automatically compares the prices offered on different stock exchanges to search for the best possible execution conditions, without investor intervention. This feature is included in Trade Republic’s standard pricing, with a fee of €1 per order.
- Direct Price, which on the contrary lets the investor choose the stock exchange on which the order will be executed, a feature particularly useful for investors who want to maintain greater control over their operations. This option is charged €2 per order, in exchange for the ability to directly select the execution market.
In parallel, the German broker accompanies these developments with a new Web interface, more comprehensive than its historical mobile application. It includes in particular an order book, a stock screener, enriched charts and real-time market data, to facilitate analysis before placing a stock order.
With these innovations, Trade Republic aims to offer a more complete investing experience, while preserving the ease of use that has contributed to its success with retail investors.
Note that this novelty is linked to the prohibition since 2024 of PFOF (payment for order flow), the practice by which a broker receives a commission from an execution venue in exchange for routing its clients’ orders. German brokers having obtained a moratorium until 30 June 2026, PFOF thus ceased to exist on 1 July 2026, bringing with it the removal of single-venue execution. Trade Republic, in complying with European regulation, has completely redesigned its model and created its own execution platform.
Best Price Trade Republic: how does this new algorithm work?
When you place a stock order, you typically see only one thing: the price at which you want to buy or sell a security. Yet, behind the scenes, several stock exchanges may offer the same security at the same moment. And even if the spreads are often small, they can vary slightly from one market to another depending on the number of buyers and sellers present, in other words, liquidity.
That is precisely what Best Price aims to optimize. Rather than asking the investor to choose a stock exchange themselves, Trade Republic automatically compares the different quotes available to steer the order toward the market offering the best execution conditions at the exact moment it is transmitted.
Let’s take a concrete example. You want to buy a share of LVMH. This stock is traded on several European exchanges. At the moment you place your order, it is possible that one exchange shows a slightly more attractive price than another or has a larger trading volume, enabling a smoother execution. With Best Price, all these checks are performed automatically. The investor does not have to perform any additional action: the platform takes care of seeking the best available conditions.
For most retail investors, this automation is a real convenience and potentially additional gains. It is no longer necessary to understand how the different stock exchanges operate or to compare their quotes before each order. The investor can thus focus on the essential: selecting the companies or ETFs they want to invest in, while the Trade Republic platform optimizes how the order is executed.
Direct Price Trade Republic: Trade Republic clients can now choose their stock exchange
If Best Price emphasizes simplicity, Direct Price is based on a different logic. This new feature now allows the investor to decide themselves on which stock exchange their stock order will be executed.
Concretely, Trade Republic now provides access to around thirty markets, including Euronext Paris, Xetra, the Nasdaq or the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The investor can thus directly select the market that seems most suitable to their strategy.
At first glance, this option may seem quite technical. Yet, it answers very specific needs. Depending on the markets, trading volume can vary, as can available liquidity or listing hours. In some situations, an investor may prefer to trade on the main exchange of a company or favor a market offering more trades at the moment they place their order.
Let’s take an example. You want to buy an American stock like Apple during the open of Wall Street. With Direct Price, you can choose that your order is directly executed on the Nasdaq, where Apple is most actively traded, rather than letting the platform automatically select the execution market.
This feature is therefore mainly aimed at investors who want to maintain control over every step of their operations. For a beginner saver or for an investor who prefers passive management, Best Price will generally meet most needs. However, more experienced investors will appreciate the extra freedom offered by Direct Price, which allows them to more finely tailor the execution of their stock orders to their investment strategy.
Test of the new Trade Republic Web interface designed for active investors
At the time of writing this article, we have not yet been able to test the new Trade Republic Web interface directly. It was not accessible from our Trade Republic account during our checks. The items presented below are therefore based on features officially unveiled by Trade Republic in the presentation video published by its CEO, as well as on demonstrations conducted during that presentation.
At first glance, this new interface seems to mark a significant evolution compared to the current Web platform. Trade Republic appears to have wanted to keep a simple and uncluttered interface, while adding tools that until now were rather reserved for platforms aimed at the most active investors.
Across this official presentation, several innovations stood out to us and could notably enhance the experience for Trade Republic clients:
- A considerably more complete chart: the new interface integrates a Japanese candlestick chart accompanied by several drawing and analysis tools. While not reaching the level of professional trading platforms, this evolution should allow investors to perform a first technical analysis directly from Trade Republic, without needing external software.
- A true order book (Orderbook): it displays the best available buy and sell offers, as well as the quantities associated with each price level. This tool brings more transparency and helps visualize the available liquidity before placing an order.
- A Time & Sales module: this window lists the most recent real-time transactions. The most active investors will thus be able to follow the pace of trades more precisely and observe the prices at which orders are actually executed.
- A portfolio heatmap: Trade Republic also introduces a visual representation of the portfolio, in which each position appears as a rectangle whose size and color quickly identify the most important lines as well as those that are rising or receding. A simple way to obtain an overview of one’s portfolio in a few seconds.
- An integrated stock screener: the Trade Republic platform now seems to include a tool to quickly search for stocks and access their main market information without leaving the interface. A feature that should save valuable time when looking for new investment opportunities.
- An order entry window directly integrated: finally, it is possible to prepare a purchase or sale directly from the analysis screen, without having to navigate between several menus. This organization should make placing stock orders smoother and more intuitive.
At first glance, this new interface gives the impression that Trade Republic is aiming to take a new step. Until now primarily known for the simplicity of its mobile app, the German fintech now seems to want to offer a genuine workspace for retail investors. Of course, we will have to wait for its official rollout to verify whether all the presented features are available and whether they deliver on their promises in real conditions.
What are the advantages and drawbacks of the 2026 Trade Republic innovations? Café de la Bourse’s view
With Best Price, Direct Price and its new Web interface, Trade Republic takes its platform far beyond a simple cosmetic update. These innovations reflect the German broker’s intention to offer more transparency, flexibility and analytical tools to its clients. They also present some limitations that should be kept in mind.
What are the advantages of the 2026 Trade Republic innovations?
According to us, these developments bring several benefits for retail investors.
- Better order execution quality. Thanks to Best Price, investors can automatically benefit from the best available execution conditions, without having to compare the different stock exchanges themselves.
- More freedom for experienced investors. With Direct Price, Trade Republic clients who wish can now directly select the stock exchange on which their order will be executed, a feature previously absent from Trade Republic.
- A much more complete Web interface. The arrival of an order book, a stock screener, a portfolio heatmap and enriched charting tools brings Trade Republic closer to platforms offered by some brokers more specialized.
- A platform that remains easy to use. Despite the addition of many features, Trade Republic seems to have preserved a clear and intuitive interface, faithful to what has made its success with retail investors.
What are the drawbacks of the 2026 Trade Republic innovations?
These innovations are however not without a few limitations.
- Direct Price entails an additional cost. Unlike Best Price, integrated into Trade Republic’s standard pricing, the use of Direct Price is charged €2 per order. This option will therefore be truly interesting only for investors who want to choose their own execution venue.
- Features that still need to be confirmed. At the time of writing this article, we have not yet been able to test the new Trade Republic platform on our account. We will therefore have to wait for its deployment to all Trade Republic clients to verify that all the features presented are indeed available and meet expectations.
- A platform that remains oriented toward the mass market. Even if this new interface marks real progress, it does not yet seem to compete with the market’s most advanced trading platforms. Highly active investors and expert traders will probably continue to favor specialized solutions offering more technical indicators, customization options and analytical tools.
Our final view: what do these innovations really change for Trade Republic clients?
With these new features, Trade Republic does not revolutionize the experience of its long-time clients, but it clearly broadens its positioning. Since its launch, the German broker has built its success on a simple recipe: an intuitive app, reduced fees and programmed investment plans available from 1 €, which remain today one of its main strengths for beginners and those who favor a passive approach to investing.
For this clientele, Best Price should naturally become the preferred mode of execution. Automatic, easy to use and billed at Trade Republic’s standard rate, it fits perfectly with the philosophy that has driven the platform’s success. In contrast, Direct Price should concern only a minority of investors, more inclined to precisely control the market on which their orders are executed.
However, these innovations could allow Trade Republic to attract a new category of investors. Until now, some retail investors turned to other brokers to benefit from more complete analysis tools or greater control over order execution. With this new Web interface, the arrival of the order book, the stock screener and Direct Price, Trade Republic is gradually narrowing this gap.
In fact, one detail caught our attention during the official presentation: Trade Republic no longer hesitates to compare itself with players such as Interactive Brokers, a positioning that nicely illustrates its ambition to be not only a platform for beginner investors but also a credible solution for more experienced investors.
That said, we believe the main strength of Trade Republic remains unchanged. The German bank continues to be an excellent choice for investing simply, regularly and at low cost. These innovations do not undermine this philosophy; they rather complement an already solid offering and broaden the audience it targets.
