Trump Discusses Deal With Iran, Iran Denies Interest

16 September 2026

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, reiterated this Monday (the 14th) that Iran wants to seal a deal “with urgency”, but it will be he who decides whether Washington will opt to participate in new peace negotiations.

“The crisis-stricken nation that is Iran wants to close a deal, with urgency and at all costs. I will be the one to decide whether the U.S. will choose to participate – something we are open to,” he wrote on Truth Social.

Minutes after the post, the news agency Tasnim, linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, stated that Trump’s “lies” about the deal with Iran continue and that, although Tehran has repeatedly stated that it does not wish to negotiate a deal with the “terrorist government of the U.S.”, the Republican again claimed that the Persians want to quickly reach an understanding.
