The President of the United States, Donald Trump, on Friday (27) ordered all federal agencies to “cease immediately” the use of technologies developed by Anthropic, an AI startup rival to OpenAI.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump intensified his stance against the company. “The left-wing lunatics at Anthropic committed a DISASTROUS ERROR by attempting to blackmail the Department of War and forcing it to obey their Terms of Use instead of our Constitution,” the president wrote.
Trump further stated that Anthropic’s stance threatens national security. “Their selfishness is putting AMERICAN LIVES at risk, our troops in danger and our National Security at RISK,” he added.

The order, announced amid a climate of rising tension between AI companies and the U.S. government, directly affects contracts and ongoing projects with federal agencies.
The decision comes as the Department of Defense pressures Anthropic to accept that its technology be used without the restrictions proposed by the company itself.
The startup seeks formal guarantees that its AI models will not be employed in fully autonomous weapons nor in mass surveillance schemes of the American population.
