The President of the United States, Donald Trump, on Saturday extolled the power he wields in his second term in the White House, during a rally in Kentucky to boost Republican mobilization, who face difficulties in the midterm elections. “I can do incredible things,” he said.
Trump spoke to the city of Highland Heights to support Republican candidates, among them Ed Gallrein, who is running for the United States House of Representatives. During the event, he commented on his decision to change how the U.S. government refers to the Gulf of Mexico, now calling it the Gulf of America.

“I don’t think I could have done this in my first term. This is a much more powerful term,” Trump said. “I also renamed a lake in Canada to Lake America,” he continued, referring to Lake Ontario.
The display of power claimed by Trump comes amid voter dissatisfaction with the way he exercises his prerogatives. Tariff policies and the war against Iran have pushed prices higher, while the number of Americans who believe the president is prioritizing his own interests, and not those of the country, continues to grow.

With control of both Houses of Congress in dispute, Trump has placed himself at the center of the campaign. If the Democrats win the majority, they could open investigations into his administration. Behind the scenes, Republicans fear that the president could become a liability to the party’s performance at the polls.
Addressing a range of topics on stage, Trump spoke about fuel prices and said that the war against Iran will end soon. He repeated a forecast he has made several times over the nearly eight months of the conflict and said gasoline prices will fall to even lower levels. The crowd responded with applause.

The president also reiterated his promise that, should the Republicans win a majority in the House and Senate, every American adult would receive US$ 5,000. The measure would likely cost more than US$ 1 trillion and would require Congressional approval, in addition to worsening the United States’ annual budget deficit, which is approaching US$ 1.8 trillion.
At Saturday’s rally, Trump added a new pledge contingent on a Republican victory, this time aimed at Kentucky. According to him, if the party wins the elections, the Department of Defense will invest in revitalizing a drug-manufacturing plant in the state. Source: Associated Press
