Trump Says Federal Buildings Will Be Vigorously Protected From Protesters

1 February 2026

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Saturday, the 31st, on Truth Social that he instructed the country’s Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, not to participate in protests in “badly run Democratic cities,” unless they request help from the federal government. Trump stressed that the government’s objective is to protect, “in a very vigorous manner,” all federal buildings that are under attack by the protesters.

“I am informing you that I have instructed ICE and/or the Border Patrol to be very strict in protecting the properties of the federal government. There will be no spitting in the faces of our officers, there will be no punches or kicks to the headlights of our cars, and there will be no throwing of stones or bricks at our vehicles or at our patriotic warriors. If there are, these people will suffer equal or greater consequences,” said the Republican on Truth.

Trump also reiterated that state governments bear responsibility for state and local buildings. “It is also their obligation to protect our federal properties, buildings, parks and all else. We are there to protect federal properties, only as support, as it is the local and state responsibility to do so.”
