The President of the United States accused the local government, which is Democratic, of mismanaging the waste treatment systems

Washington, February 16 (Reuters) – The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Monday that the federal government would intervene to “protect” the Potomac River after the collapse of a major sewer pipe in the Washington, D.C. area, and accused local authorities of mismanaging the waste treatment systems.

“I am directing federal authorities to immediately provide all the management, guidance and coordination necessary to protect the Potomac, the water supply in the capital region and our precious natural resources in the capital of our country,” Trump said on social media.
