The U.S. president, Donald Trump, highlighted that Washington “is not in a hurry for anything” regarding Iran, while taking part in the podcast Sid & Friends in The Morning, this Tuesday, the 12th. According to him, the resolution of the conflict “is a matter of time,” as expectations focus on the resolution of the war in light of the new threats exchanged between the sides.
“We have sanctions that do not give money to the Iranians. We cannot let them have a nuclear weapon because they would use it. And if that happens, do you want to see a tragedy? It would be unbelievable. So we cannot let them have a nuclear weapon and we will not let them,” he reiterated.
The nuclear issue has been one of the main points of divergence among the countries involved for an agreement that could end the hostilities in the Middle East. The American leader said he was “100% certain” that the U.S. will manage to wipe out Iran’s entire nuclear program.
Besides the geopolitical question, Trump highlighted his expectations for the meeting with his counterpart in China, Xi Jinping, and said that the meeting “will be great.” “We have a great relationship with China. It is a strong country, but we are stronger than they are,” he argued. According to the White House schedule, the American president is set to depart still today, while the meeting with Xi is expected to take place on Thursday (Beijing local time).
