Trump says Israeli troops won’t go to Lebanon, cites ‘good talk’ with Hezbollah

1 June 2026

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated on Monday, the 1st, that he spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and that there will not be troops en route to Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. In a post on Truth Social, he detailed that any troops that were on the way had already been prevented from entering.

At the same time, Trump emphasized that he spoke with Hezbollah, and that the Lebanese Shiite group agreed that all firing would cease. “Israel will not attack them and they will not attack Israel,” he wrote.

The indication from the American leader comes after a series of exchanges of attacks between Israel and Hezbollah, which led Iran to “cut off communication” with Washington in order to reach an understanding to end the war in the Middle East.

In another post, however, Trump announced that negotiations with Iran “continue at a rapid pace.”
