(Reuters) – President Donald Trump said on Friday that the United States’ relations with Venezuela are ‘very good’ and that he recognizes Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez as the official ruler.

‘We have a very good relationship with the President of Venezuela,’ Trump told reporters at the White House, noting that the United States is ‘working in close cooperation’ with Rodríguez in the oil sector.

Asked by Reuters if he would recognize Rodríguez as the official ruler, Trump replied: ‘Yes, we have already done so. We are dealing with them and, at this moment, they are doing a great job.’
