The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated on Monday (12) that any country that maintains business with Iran will face a 25% tariff “on every and any business conducted with the United States of America.”
“Effective immediately, any country that does business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a 25% tariff on any and all business conducted with the United States of America. This order is final and conclusive….”, wrote Trump in a Truth Social post.

The announcement from Trump comes at a moment when the oil-rich Middle Eastern country is struggling to contain a wave of large protests against the government.

According to data from the Comex Stat platform, the Ministry of Development, Brazil exported USD 2.92 billion to Iran in 2025 and imported USD 84.594 million in the same period. As a result, the bilateral trade balance recorded a surplus of about USD 2.84 billion in Brazil’s favor.
The US president has been openly encouraging protests against the Iranian regime. “Iran is looking for LIBERTY, perhaps like never before. The US is ready to help!!!”, he wrote on Saturday (the 10th).
According to a Wall Street Journal report, economic sanctions were one of the responses considered by the American president to pressure Iran to meet his demands to renegotiate the nuclear program and to ease the crackdown on protests, which has already left hundreds dead.
On Tuesday (13), officials from the Trump administration are expected to meet to discuss other options which, according to the newspaper, also involve a possible military or cyberattack.
