Trump’s Signature Will Be Added to U.S. Dollar Bills

27 March 2026

The signature of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will begin to appear on dollar bills. This is the first time that an incumbent president will have his signature stamped on currency.

The change was announced by the Treasury Department and will take place later this year. According to the agency, the reason is to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence.

Trump’s signature will appear alongside the name of the Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent. His name will replace the name of the U.S. Treasurer, which has appeared on the currency for more than a century.

“There is no more powerful way to recognize the historical achievements of our great nation and President Donald J. Trump than with American dollar notes bearing his name, and it is more than appropriate that this historic currency be issued on the Semiquincentennial,” Bessent said in a statement.
