UAE Announces Closure of Tehran Embassy

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced, on Sunday, March 1, the closing of its embassy in Tehran, the Iranian capital, and the withdrawal of its diplomatic mission from the country, in response to attacks by Iran against its territory. In a statement published on its official page, the ministry said that the attacks targeted civilian targets and are a “flagrant violation of national sovereignty.”

The ministry said that the Iranian offensive “threatens regional and international security and stability.”

Earlier, the UAE Ministry of Defense reported that it detected 35 drones that fell on the country’s territory and caused the deaths of three foreign nationals.

Another 58 citizens of various nationalities sustained minor injuries, according to the country’s official tally.
