The United Arab Emirates’ National Cybersecurity Council announced on Saturday that it had managed to prevent systematic cyber-attacks of a terrorist nature, aimed at targeting the country’s digital infrastructure and vital sectors, in an attempt to destabilize and disrupt essential services.
According to the state news agency WAM, the nature of the attacks included attempts to breach networks, spread ransomware, systematic phishing operations aimed at national platforms, as well as the exploitation of artificial intelligence technologies in the development of sophisticated offensive tools.
The security body said that the attack type reflects qualitative advancement in the methods used by terrorist groups and their capacity to deploy modern technologies in carrying out their digital attacks.

The Cybersecurity Council did not provide information about the individuals or groups involved in the attempted attack. However, it renewed its total commitment to safeguarding the digital space, maintaining stability, and rejecting attacks on critical infrastructures and civil services, and it urges everyone to report any cyber threats or suspicious attempts through the approved official channels to ensure digital security and the continuity of their institutions in various circumstances and moments.
