The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday, the 12th, that forces began implementing the blockade of maritime traffic from Iranian ports starting at 11:00 (Brasília time, 10:00 in Washington) this Monday, the 13th. Authorities also stated that they will not impede the transit of vessels that pass through the Strait of Hormuz to non-Iranian ports.
In a post on the official X social media page, CENTCOM announced that the blockade will be applied impartially against vessels from all nations that enter or leave Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
“CENTCOM forces will not impede freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports,” the announcement says.
According to information from the Associated Press, traffic through the Strait has been limited even in the days since the cease-fire.
Maritime tracking indicates that more than 40 commercial ships have crossed since the start of the cease-fire.
