American authorities also cited as potential risks armed conflicts, terrorism, exit bans from the country and local laws related to activities on social media

The U.S. Embassy and the consulates in Saudi Arabia urged American citizens to reconsider travel to the kingdom in light of the risk of drone and missile attacks against Washington interests, attributed to Iran and the Houthi movement in Yemen, supported by Tehran.

In a statement released on Monday, the 13th, the authorities also cited armed conflicts, terrorism, exit bans from the country, and local laws related to activities on social media as potential risks.

“Some areas pose a high risk. Do not travel to the border with Yemen due to the risk of terrorism,” the text says.

The alert comes amid the intensification of tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, Yemeni rebels accused Riyadh of carrying out multiple airstrikes overnight against areas under the group’s control, including sites along the country’s northern border with the kingdom and portions of the western coastline.
